INCROCIO MANZONI 6.0.13 (Manzoni Bianco)
IM 6-0-13. With this cold marking, the famous botanist Luigi Manzoni (1888-1968) pointed to one of the most successful crosses of his long career as ampelographer. It would be easier and fairer to call it Manzoni, but you might run into confusion with other intersections, children of the same Manzoni, although not as famous.
It is very important to point out that this crossing has been created by cross pollination and not by grafting. The grape that grew out of that flower is the first Manzoni Bianco of history.
History
The Pinot Blanc and Rhine Riesling act as mother and father to this unique child. Fairly common in the Veneto region, especially in the province of Treviso, mistreated by the EEC regulation that does not include it among the recommendations in the Friuli region, this grape has got to be some spread in the Middle of Friuli, between the serious and cut Meduna. It has been requested for use among the recommended varieties of grapes as grapes worthy of our highest consideration.
