2016 GELSAIA Piave Malanotte D.O.C.G.

DESCRIPTION: Intense ruby red wine, very late harvest (3rd week of October). Dried 35 days on wooden racks, then pressed, fermented and aged 12 months in wooden barrels made with autochthonous woods, and then it is refined for 10 more months prior to being release.

Multi-award winner in Italy and world-wide since 2001.

On the nose you’ll find layered fragrances of cherry jam, plums, spices, then  dark chocolate and rhubarb are released gradually.

Exceptionally well balanced full-bodied wine, with velvety tannins and a ripe fruit-driven long finish.

Raboso is an ancient wine, grown in the Piave River valley of the Veneto region before the time of the Roman Empire.

RECOMMENDED PAIRINGS: a must try with grilled meat such as lamb cutlets and beef, slow cooked venison and game, and elaborate pasta dishes. This is an Amarone-like meditation wine and can be sipped and enjoyed solo as well.
